1) How does this work?

Patients sign up for an account. Do not enter any personal medical information (i.e. disease status or health history) as this information can become viewable by potential volunteers and other health care providers. However, please provide enough information so the correct specialist or health provider can pick up and choose your case. The more specific you are, the higher the probability of the correct volunteer provider picking up your case.
Volunteer health providers, including nurses, counselors, physicians, dentists and others, log into our system and pledge a certain amount of free patient treatments (i.e. 1 or 35 or 58, etc.) Once the providers have pledged these free treatments on our web site, their profile will show up when a patient searches now. Once the total amount of treatments that the provider has pledged is met, they will no longer accept new patients pro bono until they choose to extend the number of their pledged treatments.

2) Who can get free health services?

Patients need to be uninsured and not eligible for their government-backed health system or insurance. This means that they are not eligible for insurance by the government, they cannot afford insurance in the private sector and your employer does not offer health insurance to you. All patients registered in the system will be required to earn an income under the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) if located in the United States. When you present to a health provider you will need to retain a copy of your most recent tax return in case a volunteer health provider asks. When you sign up on our system you must certify that you do not have health insurance and earn an income under the federal poverty level. If you have another government programs such as food stamps, etc that shows you are under the Federal Poverty Level, but cannot qualify for government health programs, you may also present that to your volunteer health provider.

3) How long will it take to find me a volunteer health provider?

This depends on the type of provider you request and where you are located. Volunteers in more remote areas such as a small town in the Midwest will wait much longer times as the number of volunteers located there is much lower. Those patients who choose to see a dermatologist or other type of highly specialized physician may find that they cannot locate a volunteer provider. If you are willing to travel further away from your home, this could help speed up your connection process.

4) What if I don't find a volunteer provider in time for a specific type of condition I have?

This system is NOT for medical emergencies. If you have a medical emergency, do not use this system. Go directly to your medical provider, an emergency room, hospital or call 9 - 1 - 1 or call your local emergency service (depending on country). This system is a safety-net system for those who cannot find or afford health services through any other means.

5) Can I use this system to find volunteer citizens to donate their organs/blood products that I may need to survive or enhance my lifestyle?

This feature is currently being investigated and considered for addition in the future. At this time it is not yet implemented or available on this system. This network only helps connect needy people to volunteer health services.

6) What if I don’t have a stable address or even a telephone number?

You may search for a case worker volunteer who may be able to represent you and will try to get in touch with you to help you make your appointment with the volunteer health provider. The case worker will write down your vital information including your name, last known good address or a friend’s address and it will be up to you to keep in touch with your case worker so that they are made aware when you move to a different home or residence. As soon as a volunteer health provider is found, your case worker will track you down and help you to create an appointment with your provider.

7) I am a case worker. How can I help?

Case workers can be anyone from a social worker to a brother trying to help his sister find health care that she needs. Friends can be your case worker and anyone else who is reliable and has a stable telephone number and address. Case workers are responsible for helping to setup appointments for their clients or the patient(s) they represent. If you would like to be a case worker for a patient(s), you should first get consent from the patient to paste their information online. Upon doing so, you can create yourself a case worker account. Next login and then click Add / Manage Patients to manage your list of patients. You can help to establish whether a patient has been connected to a provider and then you can contact your client once you have found a volunteer provider for your patient(s). It is best to use the online email client, which is secure and can help you communicate with a volunteer provider. Please remember that you should not place any confidential medical records or information of your clients on the web site.
