Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
The African American Health Program (AAHP) was created by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services to address health disparities that are disproportionately affecting African Americans in the areas of infant mortality, oral cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases and other chronic disorders. Volunteers (Health Promoters) are needed to assist the staff in disseminating health information that would eliminate health disparities and improve the number and quality of years of life for the African American community in Montgomery County MD. Activities range from attending health fairs to representing AAHP in the community. Attendance to monthly meetings and orientation are required. Trainings will be provided at no cost. |
