Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
COPE provides health education, mentoring and self-sufficiency education to at-risk youths and their families, is looking for qualified health educators and volunteers to help in its office. The Clinical Care Extender Program is an exciting program that offers college-level students the chance to get hands-on experience and work very closely with the clinical staff at the Citrus Valley Medical Center in West Covina and Covina, Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, St Mary Medical Center in Long Beach and St.John's Regional Medical Center and Pleasant Valley Hospital in Oxnard and Camarillo. Interested students need to attend an orientation session. To sign up for an orientation session please select the hospital where you would like to complete your internship and click on "Sign up for an Orientation". If you are currently a student at UCLA who wants to help those less fortunate in the community while learning about health, COPE's Primary Outreach Program is for you (through the UCLA Medicine M190 Course Series). COPE and the UCLA School of Medicine offers a course series, Medicine M190, to train students to be COPE interns. As a COPE intern, you will work with healthcare and mental health professionals to provide mentoring, tutoring, community health, and other preventive services to at- risk youth and families. Interested students should attend one of our Information Sessions to learn more about the program and to apply in person.
