EAUMF - Profile
Areas Served: Elmina, KEEA District, Ghana, W. Africa
Kinds of Volunteers:Primary care physicians, other Specialist physicians, Physician assistants, Nurses, Public health specialists, Health educators and Dental professionals. Students of all the identified health disciplines are welcome to volunteer and intern with EAUMF.
Comments: EAUMF is a philanthropic organization supporting health care initiatives in the Elmina area. Our focus is on manpower augmentation to local health professionals, continuing education, maternal and child health, mental health, prevention, and health education for HIV/AIDS in the KEEA district. This program is presented in collaboration with the local government of the KEEA district. Additional volunteer opportunities for exist especially for psychiatrists and other mental health professional at the nearby Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital.The Edward A. Ulzen Memorial Foundation (EAUMF) supports health care volunteers at the Elmina Urban Health Centre at the Komenda - Edina - Eguafo -Abrem District in the Central Region of Ghana. The Elmina Urban Health Centre has no full time MD. The District Medical Officer is a dental physician. Other staffs include a Medical Assistant, 2 Public Health Nurses, 2 Nutrition Officers, a Midwife and 6 Nurses. No x-ray or laboratory facilities are available. The foundation provides meals and accommodation to health care volunteers at Java House, which is a short walk from the Health Centre, at a reasonable cost.
