Since then, MIMC has established many spiritual and humanitarian service programs in and around Leh, Ladakh. Healthcare and medical development in Ladakh is very poor and many people in the remote areas cannot effort to buy medicine or get proper treatments. Doctors in Ladakh are very rare and many people die or suffer from serious diseases due to lack of medical facilities available. Further more, the costs of good medical treatments are for many people of Ladakh beyond their capacity to pay. Since the patients of Mahabodhi Karuna Charitable Hospital are poor and from remote areas of Ladakh, the hospital provides free treatment to the poorer section of the society. Keeping in view making self-sustainability, minor changes are made to those who can afford to pay. Karuna Charitable hospital is the only private charitable hospital within Ladakh. Fresh or experienced medical graduates are needed to assist in surgery, anesthesiology, nursing, and gynecology at the hospital and health education in rural areas. The minimum volunteer period in medicare is 3-4 months preferably between May and November. Mahabodhi is in great need of social workers experienced in the social and physical care of the mentally and physically disabled, and the elderly. We are looking for individuals who can provide their services in caring and hygiene in our Home for the Aged. The home services 27 delightful Ladakhi elders, and four disabled individuals.
