Throughout our hospitals history our volunteers have been an important part of our tradition of service to the community. Since 1963 volunteers have donated over 957,000 hours of service to our hospital. Volunteers assist in serving visitors, patients, employees and the community. At the information desk volunteers welcome visitors, provide basic patient information and assist visitors in finding their way to patient rooms or public areas. Volunteers work in departments of the hospital based on their interest, expertise and training. If you have a specific interest just ask us how your special skills could fit in the volunteer program. Our volunteer assignments are flexible to meet your needs as you balance your family and school responsibilities. We recognize individual landmarks of service and have an annual event to recognize the singular and collective work of our volunteers. On an annual basis the Medical Staff at Regional Medical Center of San Jose awards scholarships to those Junior Volunteers who show exceptional community spirit and dedication while volunteering at the hospital. We try to show our volunteers each day how much we appreciate their work at the hospital. We provide special training for every volunteer.
