Health Care Professionals needed for
1 to 3 months
Opportunity Description:
Health Care Professionals will join the teams of local professionals in various positions such as doctors(several specialities are much needed, i.e. surgery, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics..) and nurses. These professionals will posses the necessary skills and experience in the positions required, with placements that can be short or long term.

Salormey Volunteers Group (SVG) is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) providing community development information and services in the following areas: Health, Education, Environment and Information and Communication Technologies. Our mission is to provide individuals and communities with the necessary tools to achieve self-empowerment and self-development, challenging dependency chains that constrain people?s initiatives and potential.
We are therefore looking for short or long term volunteers to serve in the above mentioned fields. For those interested in the Health sector volunteering, we have partnerships with community clinics and hospitals for placements according to your area of interest/ expertise ( internal medicine, pediatrics, pre and post natal care, midwifery, surgery, physiotherapy,?).
Characteristics of these projects:
Placement period is flexible, ideally a minimum of two weeks, up to six months.
The prospective volunteer must be fluent in English.
You can choose the setting of your placement, rural or urban area.
Volunteers will organize their own transport in and out of Ghana, as well as visa procedures at Ghana Embassies in your respective countries of origin.
Programme fees
1st Month US275 ( Application fee 100 plus monthly fee 175)
After the first month, the charge will be of 175 per month.
The fees cover the following costs: inspection tour of prospective host institutions, communication (telephone/ email), airport pick-up, accommodation and meals prior and at your placement, transportation to host institution, and supervision throughout your placement.
An additional amount of $20-40 a week should be enough to cater for all other expenses.\
We have already hosted a number of doctors and nurses who have volunteered their time and expertise and donated items to the local institutions they helped. Contact us for more info on this.
