Volunteering can enhance your life. Research has shown that older adults who participate in volunteer activities have a higher energy level and greater self-esteem and satisfaction with life. UCI Medical Center in Orange offers numerous volunteer opportunities, including flower delivery to patients, reading and writing patient letters and translation services. Volunteer positions include:

Information Desk. Greet patients and their family members as they enter UCI Medical Center, giving directions and assistance as needed.

Surgery Liaison Desk. Assist with communications between surgical staff and individuals waiting for patients in surgery.

Gift Shop. Assist customers with gift selection and wrapping, provide cashiering services and deliver flowers to patient rooms.

Cancer Center Concierge Desk. Greet and provide directions to patients and family members visiting UCI?s Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Medical/Surgical Nursing Units. Help patients get ready for meals, bring flowers and mail to patient rooms, visit with patients and read or write letters for them.

Messenger Service. Includes filing, processing bulk mailings, assisting at conferences, workshops, data entry and running errands throughout the medical center.
