Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Volunteers come to UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Childrens Hospital for many reasons but most come to help others and contribute to the community. Volunteers also come to learn about the medical profession and to be a part of a team dedicated to providing the highest quality health care. Its our hope that volunteers derive great personal satisfaction from their experience and feel valued and deeply appreciated by the medical center and its patients.

If youre 16 years of age and older, youre eligible to become a volunteer, except in our pediatric programs, Emergency Department and operating rooms that require volunteers to be at least 18 years old. Students, who are 14 and older, may participate in the Summer Student Program.

Some volunteer assignments involve working with patients while others involve working with doctors, nurses and other staff. Each volunteer is asked to commit a minimum of four hours of service each week for three to six months, depending on the area.
