A. Simply visit our add an opportunity page in our organizations section and enter your organization's volunteering opportunity information. Anybody with a legitimate volunteering opportunity may enter a listing; you don't need to be a non-profit or even an organization. You could be just one person launching a new opportunity for volunteers.
Q. How do I update my volunteering opportunity listing?
A. Simply login to our organization headquarters and you can either update or re-register your listings. If you wish to view your current listing, you may always search for it using the "Organization Name" search field on our search page
Q. Can I enter HTML into the "Volunteering Opportunity Description" when adding a volunteering opportunity listing?
A. You may wish to enter HTML into your volunteering opportunity description to highlight certain parts of your description. Common tags are:
To make text bold: <b> Enter your Text </b>
To make text italicized: <i> Enter your Text </i>
To skip a line: <br /> , you may enter multiples breaks to increase white space between paragraphs. Usually two will be sufficient.
Q. When will my volunteering opportunity listing expire and be deleted?
A. As of right now, we do not automatically delete volunteering opportunities. If you want your organization's volunteering account deleted, please email: health@healthcarevolunteer.com
Q. Do I need to login to use your web site?
A. As of right now, we don't require logins to use our search engine. However, if you wish to list volunteering opportunities in our network you must create a login account.
Q. We are a for-profit hospital or organization. Can we still list on your site?
A. Yes, as long as it is a legitimate healthcare-related volunteering opportunity! When you signup you should mention that you are a for-profit organization in the description of your organization entry on the signup page.
Q. I never listed my organization on this web site. Why did I receive an email thanking me for adding a volunteering opportunity?
A. When our HealthCare Volunteer mobilization system was first launched in its testing phase, it was an open database system which allowed any caring volunteer to add and update a new opportunity to our web site. Users of our web site were adding new opportunities every day to help fellow volunteers who may want to volunteer with your organization through an open database format. Users typically get their data from the web site of the organization being listed. If you would like your listing removed, please email the support team from your organization's email address and it will be reconfirmed via email; once you re-confirm your listing will be deleted. In order to enhance security, as of April 24, 2006 we have closed this system so only the organization itself may change their volunteering opportunity on our system. At this time, we also initiated a user error reporting system in the event that anyone finds an error in a listing. Our goal is to provide free accurate listings, and we encourage organizations to keep their listings accurate and updated at all times. Our services are free of charge. If you are trying to update your information, please register for an organization account using the email address associated with your listing. If a listing is not available, please email us at health@healthcarevolunteer.com from your organization's email address and we will help initiate your free account.
Q. How much does it cost to list an opportunity?
A. Our entire site and services are 100% free. We plan to keep it this way. In fact, we are one of the only related sites that does not charge for services provided on our web site. Many sites and organizations charge licensing fees to use its database or volunteer opportunities, but we are committed to free technology services. If you believe volunteer services really should be free, please make it a point to support us by using our site.
Q. Can I list jobs on this web site?
A. No, this web site is for legitimate volunteering opportunities only.
Q. Can I put a logo, volunteering pictures or our organization's volunteering application on my organization listing?
A. Yes, on Feb. 20, 2006 we launched a new service, which allows organizations to upload a logo, up to two volunteering pictures (in gif or jpg format) and a volunteers application (in pdf or doc format) in order to further personalize their listing. If you wish to update your listing to include this in your profile, please submit your profile using our add an opportunity page.
Q. What types of volunteering opportunities may I list on the web site?
A. To answer this question ask yourself does your volunteering opportunity even remotely help or facilitate improvement of the health care system in any way, whether clinical, medical research, medical supply distribution, medical facility maintenance or any other method? If so, please list your volunteering opportunity on our site. Any direct or indirect health care volunteering opportunity may be listed from working as a receptionist at a local Cancer Society chapter to providing surgery to the needy in a rural area.
Q. What does the signup process for organizations entail?
A.
Q. I am planning a trip for my local church to a foreign country this summer. One of our team leaders is a dental hygienist and has offered to serve specifically in that capacity. Our national contact has a facility that we can use; however there is no dental equipment available. Do you have any suggestions as to how I should proceed?
A. You have several options:
1) Rent equipment from one of the many medical/dental supply non-profit organizations. They rent equipment to missions teams for short periods of time. This costs money so you may have to raise money at your church. You can search on our site and on Google for these organizations.
2) Buy some used equipment from dentists in the community that the hygienist can use while volunteering. Dentists that are in need of replacing their hygiene equipment are probably your best bet.
3) Borrow some equipment from a dentist or two or get donated equipment from dentists that are looking to replace their scaling instruments.
4) Try to get donations directly from companies that the hygienist could use.
